The Children’s Centre has announced the appointment of two prominent local businessmen to its Board of Trustees.
Findlay Macleod (pictured), Managing Director of Isle of Man Creamery, and Mark Humphrey, Partner at advocates Long and Humphrey, have joined the charity’s Board with immediate effect.
As one of the largest charities on the Isle of Man, The Children’s Centre has undergone substantial growth in recent years. The news that two high profile names are to strengthen its management team is seen as a clear indication of the organisation’s strong commitment to Island life.
Findlay, Managing Director of Isle of Man Creamery since 2000, has been a driving force behind the successful launch of locally branded cheeses in major export markets such as the UK, Ireland, Europe and the United States.
"I was very interested in becoming involved with The Children’s Centre because as a parent I wanted to be part of an organisation that tries to give children and young people as good a start to their lives as possible," said Findlay, who is married with two boys aged eight and six.
"It is an organisation that I have been aware of and admired for many years and I am delighted to help in my capacity as Board Trustee."
Mark qualified as a Manx advocate in 1988 with Dickinson and Cruickshank, where he was a Partner within the firm’s private client and property departments.
Today, he continues to act in many of the Island’s significant office and hospitality property transactions and has been the advocate of choice in licensing and planning issues forboth local and national organisations.
A father of three children, aged 15, nine and eight, Mark said he was looking forward to working on behalf of the charity.
"I never cease to be impressed with the breadth and scope of projects with which The Children’s Centre is involved and hopefully my experience in commerce can help bring a rounded experience to the table," he added.
Children’s Centre Chairman, Paul Cashin, is delighted that charity has managed to encourage two high calibre businessmen to join the Board of Trustees: "The Children’s Centre has grown dramatically over the last few years and, whilst these are voluntary positions, it is vitally important that we appoint Trustees with the necessary skills and experience to help take the organisation forward.
"Findlay and Mark are both very well respected within the business community and their expertise will be of enormous benefit to us at this important stage in the charity’s development," said Paul.
