A long time Isle of Man resident who has been awarded the CBE says he will have to keep working in the hope he may get a knighthood!
Eighty-three-year-old Dr George Daniels, MBE, was given his latest award in the New Year Honours List for his services to horology, the science of timekeeping and making timepieces.
He invented the Daniels co-axial escapement, a device which made mechanical watches much more accurate and which was adopted by Omega and many of the best watchmaking firms in the world.
He has also written standard texts on watchmaking.
Dr Daniels, regarded as one of the world's greatest watchmakers, came to the Isle of Man for a quieter life and also for somewhere to enjoy his collection of classic Bentley racing cars.
