Skating rink could return next winter

The Isle of Man's winter skating season has come to a close.

It's eight weeks since many local residents first put on a pair of skates in the Villa Marina gardens, and began dancing, gliding or stumbling on ice.

The venture has proved a huge success, with more than 30,000 visits over the period.

The rink is now being packed away, but there are strong indications it will return next winter.

Mike Stanton is country manager for Sure, the attraction's sponsor.

At Sunday night's final session he said it had proved hugely popular:
