Ramsey housing upgrade moves closer

by isleofman.com 24th January 2010

The project to refurbish 18 of Ramsey Town Commissioners' properties in Brookhill Road and Seamount Road has taken a step further, after tenders closed at 12 noon on Friday.

The houses were built in the 1950s and have recently been upgraded to full central heating as part of the Department of Local Government's framework agreement for public sector housing.

Cavity wall and loft insulation has also been fitted, together with new external doors in advance of the further proposed works.

James Davis reports (audio file attached below):

These include, among other things, re-roofing, rewiring; replacement of steel lintels to ground floor windows and new kitchens and bathrooms.

The scheme is to be project managed by Ramsey-based Dalrymple Associates, in association with quantity surveyors Magee & Co and engineering and planning supervisors Holmes Grace.

The estimated cost of the overall scheme is ?1.3 million, with work scheduled to start on this latest phase in July and completion due by mid-March next year.
