MHK receives answer to taxing question

Treasury Minister Allan Bell has explained why he isn't taxing the profits of non-resident retailers in the Isle of Man.

In the House of Keys he faced another question on the subject from Michael MHK David Cannan, who wanted to know why the Treasury hadn't ordered such companies with turnovers in excess of ?5 million to pay 10 per cent tax here.

Mr Bell said the idea was being considered by his department, but in the past it had been felt it might destabilise the economy:
