'Black Box' Secrets of Marketing Explained

by isleofman.com 12th February 2010

The Isle of Man branch of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is set to host a compelling presentation on 25th February at the Claremont Hotel, Douglas.

Terry Van Rhyn, Managing Director of Ashgrove Marketing. will deliver an insightful presentation open to all local marketing and business professionals to attend, cryptically entitled 'Unlock the Black Box'.

It will address the important things that marketers need to know before they communicate to advertising agencies in order to gain a greater understanding of the inner workings of the creative mind and ultimately get the results they want.  There will also be discussion on how to frame the creative brief effectively and how to set objectives with clear expectations.

Terry Van Rhyn says, "You know your business and what it needs to achieve and the target audience you want to reach.  The creative process is more about understanding those two elements than it is about placing pretty pictures and words on pages.

"Advertising must firstly resonate with the people you need to talk to and then it needs to make them do something.  Creativity should not get in the way of the message, it must enhance it.  The hope is for this discussion to be a two way conversation and participation is important."

The event is organised by the Isle of Man branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and sponsored by Ashgrove Marketing.  It is free for members and studying members to attend.  Non-members are very welcome to come along at a small fee.

Registration for the event is at 5.30pm, when light refreshments will be served.  The event finishes at 7pm.
