New Face on Telecom's Data Team

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2010

Manx Telecom has announced the appointment of Paul Larkin to its front line hosting technical team at the Company’s fast expanding world class Douglas North Data Centre.

Paul, 28, joins the Centre’s growing team, having gained prior IT related experience as a Systems Operator with a blue chip financial organisation on the Island.

The purpose-built Douglas North Data Centre, which is now primed to take on additional capacity, runs Manx Telecom’s state-of-the-art core network and enterprising hosting operation.

Completed in 2005 at a cost of over ?10 million, the Centre hosts some of the largest international eGaming companies, on-line bookmakers, global payment processors, international e-money providers and major banks.

Stephen Trimble, Manx Telecom’s Enterprise Hosting and Solutions Manager said expansion of the technical team was a clear indication of the growing demand for the Company’s hosting services on the Isle of Man.

"At a time when there is a fair degree of uncertainty in the economy, we are delighted to be bucking the trend by taking on key additional staff.  The platforms, technologies and processes we use are often complex but Paul has already become a key member of the first line technical team," he said.

More than 300 staff are employed by Manx Telecom, a subsidiary of the Spanish based telecommunications giant Telefonica, which has a global workforce of over 257,000 telecoms and IT professionals.
