Marsh recently celebrated 35 years of providing insurance broking services and risk management advice to organisations on the Isle of Man at a gala reception at The Claremont Hotel.
The event was attended by over 100 Marsh clients, members of the Isle of Man’s business community and representatives from the Isle of Man Government.
Marsh’s broking operations in the Isle of Man were originally based on Ridgeway Street in Douglas. Now based in Rose House, the company serves the Isle of Man’s leading businesses, providing risk and insurance services to clients across a wide range of sectors, including hospitality and leisure, financial services and government departments.
Marsh also celebrated the arrival of Sarah Hewitt, who takes over the helm as Leader of the firm’s Isle of Man operations from Phil Angus. She has worked for the firm for five years in a variety of roles, and was most recently a Client Service Director in the London City office.
John Nicholson, Chairman of Marsh in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, said, "Last night was a wonderful celebration of Marsh’s achievements on the Isle of Man over the past 35 years.
"From a 1970s small start-up operation, we are proud to have become an integral part of the island’s business community and worked with so many of its leading firms.
"On behalf of our team in Douglas, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Sarah Hewitt and thank Phil Angus for his services over the past five years. Marsh has an excellent team which is well-placed to serve the local business community on the Isle of Man for many more years to come."
Sarah added, "I’m delighted to take up the role as Leader of Marsh’s broking business on the Isle of Man. Marsh has an illustrious history on the island and I look forward to helping write the firm’s next chapter in Douglas."
In addition to providing insurance broking services to companies based on the Isle of Man, Marsh has also been providing captive management services to clients since 1982.
Most of the captives under management are owned by major companies listed on the FTSE or on other major stock exchanges around the world. Marsh has also been providing corporate management services for non-insurance entities since 1993.
The captive management team is led by Derek Patience, the current chairman of the Isle of Man Captive Association.
