The Barclays Wealth Women’s Initiatives Network (WiN) celebrated the recent International Women’s Day with a special event at the Sefton Hotel.
Over 75 men and women attended the event on 8th March to hear influential speakers from New York and London via a video link.
Speakers included Ros Stephenson, Managing Director and Co-Head of Corporate Finance, Barclays Capital Americas; Roopa Mehendale Foley, Director, Barclays Wealth in the Americas; Shachi Shah, Managing Director and Head of Barclays Capital Fund Solutions; and entrepreneur Shaa Wasmund CEO of Smarta.
Nikki Taylor, Chair of WiN in the Isle of Man said, "It was fantastic for us to hold our first major event of 2010 on International Women’s Day and celebrate the diversity of Barclays Wealth.
"We had the pleasure and privilege of being able to listen to a number of speakers via a video link which meant that we could connect with our Barclays Wealth colleagues from New York, London and the Channel Islands.
"We were delighted to be able to welcome a number of external guests to the event from various organisations in the Island to help us celebrate International Women’s Day."
After the video conference the attendees broke off into two workshop sessions with special guests Sarah Sanders, Managing Partner at Deloittes and board member of Junior Achievement IOM and Jane O’Rourke, previously Chair of the Gambling Control Commissioners and now CEO of the IOM Law Society.

Barclays Wealth’s Women’s Initiatives Network has over 800 members throughout the group with 140 in the Isle of Man.
There are a number of other local WiN events planned throughout the year including an Investment Seminar which will take place in April. More details will be released in the near future.
