Keigs Welcomes Marianne as New Photographer

by isleofman.com 24th March 2010

Associated with photography on the Island for five generations, Keigs is now entering a new phase in its history as photographer Marianne McCourt takes over the professional photography business in the Strand Street shop.

"We are delighted that Marianne, who is not only an excellent photographer but one with a very individual approach which produces outstanding results, has agreed to establish her studio at Keigs," said Managing Director Tim Keig.

"The shop will remain unaffected by this venture but all Keigs' professional photography work will now be looked after by Marianne; her gallery is at the rear of the shop while her studio is on the first floor," he added.

"It is a venture which will offer an unrivalled service on the Island and one which will be to the benefit of both Marianne and Keigs."

Ms McCourt, who moved to the Island five years ago and set up Marianne McCourt Photography Ltd three years ago, has an impressive professional pedigree.

She is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and a Licentiate of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers.  She also has an honours degree in photography.

"I’m very much a people person, which is why I love photography so much, be it weddings, portrait or commercial work," she said.

"I like to think I have the capability to capture someone’s personality by putting them at ease and making the whole experience fun."

Marianne added, "I’m excited to be moving into Strand Street and very much look forward to working alongside a business which has a photographic heritage dating back to 1862."
