Appleby, providers of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services, has promoted three lawyers to the position of Counsel in the Isle of Man Office.

Miriam Daugherty, who joined Dickinson Cruickshank (now part of the Appleby Group) in 1998, is a member of the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group.  She specialises in personal injury and clinical negligence, and has particular experience in claims for catastrophic injuries, industrial deafness, stress and sexual abuse.

She represents insurance companies in complex and high value litigation as well as cases involving the Police including wrongful arrest and malicious prosecution.

Andrew Webb is in the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group and specialises in high value banking and asset finance transactions.  He is also a leading bankruptcy practitioner acting as a Trustee in major cases and for the liquidator in the long running BCCI case.

Before joining the Appleby Group in 2007 as a Consultant, Andrew was a legislative draftsman for H.M. Attorney General’s Chambers from 2001-2007.

Paul Branford (pictured) is also part of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group.  He is experienced in a wide range of corporate, commercial, insurance and regulatory issues and specialises in offshore financial services, including fund formation, restructuring, refinancing and termination.

He was named as a leader in his field by Chambers and Partners 2010 European legal directory.

Paul was admitted as a Member of the Bar of England and Wales (non-practising) in 1999 and was called to the Manx Bar in 2001.

Before joining the Appleby Group, Paul gained extensive experience in the commercial department of Mann & Partners and in-house in the offshore fund sector.

Sean Dowling, Managing Partner of the Isle of Man office commented, "I am extremely excited about these promotions.  They further reinforce the Appleby Group’s significant capability in Litigation and Insolvency, and Corporate and Commercial work.

"We are committed to rewarding success and I warmly congratulate Miriam, Andrew and Paul on their promotions."

As part of its round of global promotions, Appleby also announced the appointment of Isle of Man Corporate and Commercial lawyer Charles Davies and Jersey Private Client and Trusts lawyer Naomi Rive as Partner, and a total of five lawyers to the position of Counsel.
