The Department of Economic Development has announced the appointment of Andrew Simpson and Dennis Rogers (pictured) as Business Advisors in its Small Business Start Up Scheme team.

Andrew and Dennis will join the existing team of four advisors to monitor and assist new businesses in their early years.

The Small Business Start up scheme is now in its 15th year in operation.  In that time, the Department has trained in excess of 800 businesses and financially supported and advised over 480.

2009/2010 has been another record breaking year for the scheme, supporting 68 businesses this year from psychologists, auto repair garages and dog groomers to property management, photographers and marketing consultants.

Sara Colley, Development Executive, Department of Economic Development, said, "We are delighted that Andrew and Dennis are joining the team.

"They both bring a wealth of experience with them.  Andrew has a breadth of expertise in Marketing, Retail and Senior Management and has also founded and operated his own company in the UK.

"Dennis specialises in Property Management and business start up and development, having founded a number of businesses over the past 20 years.  He also has 10 years' business advisor experience with the Prince’s Trust in the UK."

Political Member of the Department of Economic Development, Clare Christian MLC, said, "The Small Business Start Up Scheme is one of the most respected and successful schemes in the department.

"It is currently experiencing an exceptionally busy period.  With Economic Development now at the heart of government activity, it is more vital than ever that we offer local businesses the best possible support and mentorship.

"Dennis and Andrew promise to strengthen an already diverse and successful team."
