Sir Stephen Wright KCMG, Chief Executive of International Financial Services, London (IFSL), will be the guest speaker at a forthcoming event of the Isle of Man Insurance and Financial Services Institute.
The event takes place on Tuesday 27th April 2010, at the Claremont Hotel, and is available to both members and non-members.
Sir Wright took up his appointment at the IFSL in January 2008. Prior to this, he was a diplomat, most recently as British Ambassador to Spain (2003-2007).
Before that, he was Director-General (Defence and Intelligence) in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London and member of the FCO board (2000-2002), Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Washington (1997-1999) and Director for EU
Affairs in the FCO (1994-1997).
In his earlier career, Sir Stephen had postings at the EU in Brussels and in New Delhi, New York and Havana as well as in the FCO.
He has been charged with developing and managing 'The City UK', a new body set up to promote the UK Financial Services Industry on a global scale, working alongside the City of London and UK regions.
The City UK will provide research and analysis of key market activities and undertake work to target key emerging markets around the world.
