Local Intelligence confirms worldwide view of UK elections

by isleofman.com 29th April 2010

Isle of Man company, Intelligence Limited, is using its latest product to analyse daily fluctuations in the fortunes of the UK parties and their leaders and it has made its results available to the Manx public.

The software, developed on the Island, is called ibInsight. It offers an alternative that is less expensive, quicker and more comprehensive in its scope than the traditional opinion polls upon which so much reliance has been traditionally placed. The software reviews the entire internet so that changing sentiment towards any event can be constantly assessed. The attached graphs show the ibInsight analysis of the election. These confirm the strong performance of the Liberal Party following Nick Clegg's convincing performance in the leadership debate and show the daily changes in the relative performance of each party and its leader.

“Our analysis of the internet shows significant volatility in the attitude of the UK electorate towards the main parties. It is fascinating to see how much sentiment changes depending on what they do and say” said Steve Woodford, CEO of Intelligence Limited. Intelligence is providing a free service to the media during the course of this election campaign which will deliver regular news on what is happening.

John Webster, Chairman of Intelligence said, “We are able to assess anything that is the subject of comment anywhere on the web. We intend looking at how attitudes towards the Isle of Man compare with Channel Islands and other jurisdictions and how views are impacted by any media comment, advertising or road-show. ibInsight has already generated great interest in the e-business world where the ability to do instant and regular competitor analyses as well as monitor the impact of any events or promotions is invaluable. The effectiveness of all advertising can be measured and negative as well as positive developments can be monitored.”

Steve Woodford explained that ibInsight works “Through the detailed mathematical analysis of the content from online news feeds, blogs, social networking and websites we are able to assess sentiment towards any event that has taken place. This enables our clients to see the impact of a press release on their brands and to consider precisely how their brands compare, day-to-day, with their competitors. This process is revolutionising corporate approach to marketing, advertising and brand development.”
