Woodford hits out at "Manx crabs" critics

by isleofman.com 1st May 2010
KEVIN Woodford has hit out at the "Manx crabs syndrome" criticising his involvement with a Trust backing his high profile House of Keys election campaign.

The celebrity TV chef and author says he has "'nothing to hide" about the organisation that is backing his election campaign for the Douglas East constituency which takes place on May 27th. "A very small number of people work to the Manx crabs principles," he said.

The Manx Election Trust has offered financial backing to support Mr Woodford's election bid which has started with a series of election posters and newspaper advertsements. He has also been given the facilities of a small campaign team and an office.

But Mr Woodford has insisted that his policies are his own and not influenced by any members of the Trust. He said, "The manifesto is written by me solely. I don't promote the interests of any individual or organisation or business. I have nothing to hide."

The Manx Election Trust has said that it intends to support other candidates in future House of Keys elections, including the next General Election in 2011.

The other candidates on May 27th are Kate Beecroft, Colin Cain, Chris Heath, Jon Joughin and Chris Robertshaw.
