New names added to sanctions watchlist

by isleofman.com 7th May 2010

The Manx Treasury has updated its financial sanctions watchlist, after the United Nations issued new information about Al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

There are two new names to look out for - Mohamed Belkalem, aged 40, and Tayeb Nail, who is between 34 and 38.

Both men are Algerian and members of Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb, a name given to a group of countries in north Africa.

At the same time Ahmed Said Zaki Khedr, who was reported to have died in October 2003, has come off the list.

The Financial Supervision Commission says companies should check to see whether they have any dealings with anybody on the list and to contact the sanctions officer immediately if they do.
