HSBC backs junior cricket coaching

by isleofman.com 9th May 2010
THE Island’s cricketers of tomorrow are to receive some expert coaching over the next few months courtesy of a ?1,000 sponsorship from HSBC Bank.

Primary school children will benefit from the cricketing prowess of 17-year-old Daniel Hawke, who was one of the 14 players in the Isle of Man’s squad for the European Cricket Championship who has been training with Lancashire.  Isle of Man senior player Max Stokoe, along with Ramsey cricketer Tom Howard, will also be taking part.

"The Bank, which already sponsors the HSBC Manx Youth Games, is keen to help and support the promotion of cricket at the all-important grass roots level of years 3/4,” said Ian Bush, retail branch manager for HSBC Bank.

He added, “More and more youngsters are taking an interest in cricket at an early age and we are delighted to contribute to strengthening the links between the migration of school cricket to club level."

The initial term of HSBC's sponsorship will be from 1 April to 20 July which replicates the schools' summer terms across the Island and will lead into the Primary Schools' Cricket Festival
on 14 July.
