IOM Bank support for students’ fine art exhibition

by isleofman.com 24th May 2010
THE Isle of Man Bank is supporting a fine art exhibition by Isle of Man College students which begins on Saturday.

It is the first exhibition for students studying on the BA Hons degree course in Fine Art at the Isle of Man College.

A spokesman said, “Four students are exhibiting their work from the degree programme where the consolidation of intellectual and practical achievements of each individual have been the focus of their study and are presented to form the exhibition. This work is different, fresh and very contemporary.”

The work is being displayed at the Strand Shopping Centre and has been generously sponsored by Isle of Man Bank as part of their ongoing community investment support for education.

Dr Ian Killip, Principal Isle of Man College, added, “The exhibition presents the achievements of our first graduates in Fine Art and provides further evidence of the steady growth in higher education provision at the College over the past decade.

“Each year sees around 45 students progressing from art, design and media courses at the College to higher education and the introduction of the BA Fine Art through our partnership with Liverpool John Moores University now provides them with the opportunity to study to degree level without having to leave the Island.”

The exhibition runs from May 29th to June 5th.
