A NEW method of helping wealthy individuals make important charitable donations to causes close to their own hearts has been announced today.
Cayman National Bank and Trust Company (Isle of Man) Limited has launched a joint initiative -'Frontline Philanthropy' - with Isle of Man advocates, Mannin Chambers in the form of a specialised bespoke service for wealthy individuals to pursue their own philanthropic endeavours.
“Too often, many existing charitable institutions have aims which can be too broad or too remote from the causes which charitable individuals wish to benefit,” said a spokesman.
“The partnership of Cayman National and Mannin Chambers provides 21st century philanthropists with all the resources and experience to assist with the formation of charitable trusts or foundations and provides administrative solutions and legal advice in the Isle of Man.”
Properly constructed, an Isle of Man charitable trust will be immune from attack and immensely strong in its work. The Isle of Man Charities Act 1962 contains a broad definition of what 'charity' means, allowing a flexible approach in creating the most appropriate charitable structures.
'Frontline Philanthropy' will enable philanthropists to make a meaningful contribution to this generation and future generations, allowing them to formulate activity and creating the right vehicles to promote their philanthropic endeavours.
Instead of benefitting society at one remove, the founder is on the front-line as a philanthropist. There will be tangible achievements within his or her lifetime, and the opportunity to guide and inspire the trustees whilst at the same time being able, confidently, to rely on their independence of thought and action.
