Govt Quarterly Report - Film industry

by isleofman.com 17th June 2010
SINCE the last report at the end of December 2009 the prospects for film production in the Isle of Man have improved, with a number of new projects now in the pipeline for the second half of 2010 (these are not yet finalised but are realistic opportunities likely to proceed).

The size of budget for these productions is up to ?5m which is slightly larger than was originally anticipated for the year ahead. The aim for 2010 is to achieve a target of four feature film, tv drama and/or animation projects which deliver at least ?2.5m local film spend and 5,500 generated bed-nights.

After 15 months of Isle of Man production, Chico and Rita (a ?5.5m animation production) was completed on in March this year.

Three Manx-made movies received their UK releases during the quarter. They were ‘Wild Target’ on April 23rd, ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’ on April 30th and ‘Heartless’ on the May 21st.
