ATHLETICS hero Roger Black MBE will give a presentation at an Institute of Directors lunch at the Sefton Hotel, Douglas, on Wednesday, June 30.
In addition to his many sporting achievements he has found success as a television presenter and is an accomplished motivational speaker and conference host.
For 14 years Roger represented Great Britain both as an individual 400 metres runner and as a member of the 4x400 metres relay team.
He won 15 major championship medals including European, Commonwealth, and World Championship Gold medals.
His greatest achievement was winning the Olympic 400 metres Silver medal in 1996 and he is particularly admired for his triumphs over adversity, successfully overcoming several serious injuries and setbacks throughout his career.
He was also British men's team captain and was awarded the MBE in 1992.
Roger is one of those unique people who have achieved both individually and as part of a team. He understands the dynamics of becoming a champion - how to dream a dream, set goals and take the necessary steps to fulfilling potential.
His tireless motivation and dedication to better his performance and be the best will strike a chord with successful business professionals.
He will highlight the massive effort involved to succeed in sport and in business at the event in the Harris restaurant.
The lunch, which is in association with Scottish Widows, the official pensions and investment provider of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is ?26 for Insititute of Directors members and ?30 for non-members.
Roger is a Scottish Widows Ambassador for the games.
