MACMILLAN Cancer Support Isle of Man is to benefit from a donation of ?2,000 from Royal London 360°.
Twelve players recently took part in the offshore life assurance company’s annual Macmillan Longest Golf Day event at Douglas Golf Club.
Beginning at 5.30am, three teams of four set out to play four rounds of golf each in succession, a combined total of 864 holes. The final hole was played at 9.30pm when players had walked approximately 25 miles.
Macmillan Cancer Support is once again Charity of the Year for both Royal London 360° and its parent, Royal London Group, with fundraising taking place to support initiatives both locally and throughout the UK.
The charity aims to improve the lives of everyone living with cancer, whether it be patients or their families.
Between March 2009 and March 2010, Royal London Group, including Royal London 360°, raised ?70,000 for the charity.
More than ?1 million has been spent in the Isle of Man in the last 10 years by Macmillan Cancer Support – money raised by Royal London 360° staff in the Isle of Man is used to benefit patients and their families who are living in the Island.
June Whiteman, charity co-ordinator of Royal London 360°, who took part in the event said: "The Longest Golf Day is a really tough challenge, but also a lot of fun and a great way to raise both awareness and money for Macmillan Cancer Support Isle of Man.
"The charity does a fantastic job supporting people living with cancer here on the Island, and we are only too happy to be supporting such a worthwhile cause."
