THE Isle of Man International Business School is targeting the Island’s finance sector with new foundation level courses in the area of human resources.
The School has announced that it will be offering courses leading to qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, with two foundation level courses starting in September 2010.
The Certificate in Human Resources Practice provides a firm foundation in all areas of HR. A statement from IBS said, “It will help develop essential skills and give the confidence to be more effective at work, and add value to an organisation’s HR function.
“Students will study seven modules, including ‘Understanding organisations and the role of HR’, ‘Resourcing talent’ and ‘Supporting good practice in Performance and Reward Management’.
IBS says that the Certificate in Learning and Development Practice is the correct for those who aspire to be, or are already, involved as a trainer, or L&D professional, or just looking for a strong grounding in L&D essentials.
“It will give students the confidence to be more effective at work and add value to HR or training function. There will be seven modules including ‘Developing yourself as an effective HR or L&D Practitioner’, ‘Preparing and Designing learning and Development activities’ and ‘Delivering Learning and Development Activities’.
These qualifications are for people new to HR, those interested in a move into HR or who are working in HR in a support role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills. The programmes will be delivered at the International Business School on a Thursday afternoon from 1pm until 6.30pm (although there will be two weekend based modules next February and March).
Teaching will be undertaken by a team of experienced tutors, with case studies and discussion groups. Assessment will be through skills related and written assignments relating to each module of the course, and students will be required to undertake private study at home.
The cost of each programme will be £2,200 (+VAT); however some students may be eligible for a contribution towards this cost from the Department of Economic Development and to spread the cost payment by instalments is permitted.
Application forms and further information are available from Carole Collister on 693736. The programme of study is subject to CIPD validation and successful student recruitment.
