STANDARD Bank has won three awards in the 2010 Euromoney Awards for Excellence at a gala dinner in London.
The bank, which has a presence in 17 African countries and 16 countries outside the continent including the Isle of Man, was named Best Investment Bank In Africa, Best Bank in South Africa and Best Investment Bank in Nigeria.
Managing director of Standard Bank Isle of Man John Coyle said: "To be recognised in these prestigious industry awards is something we are very proud of locally, particularly as our offshore presence in the Isle of Man helps to differentiate the group among the other players in the highly competitive investment banking arena in Africa."
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence have been awarded annually since 1992 and are judged by a panel of experts who look for key performance indicators including volume of business transacted, innovation and leadership, credit ratings, quality of assets and earnings and efficiency ratios.
Mr Coyle added: "There is a very real connection between our business in Africa and our Isle of Man operation, with the Isle of Man being the preferred jurisdiction for meeting the offshore investment needs of private banking clients across the African continent.
"We join our colleagues around the world in celebrating a further milestone in the group achieving its vision to connect Africa to the world and the world to Africa."
