Employment and Skills Group on the move

by isleofman.com 25th August 2010

THE Department of Economic Development has announced that the Employment and Skills Group will relocate to Nivison House.

From September, the group which consists of Work Permits, Training Services and the Careers Service will join the Job Centre and the Disability Employment Service, on Prospect Hill, Douglas.

Employment and Skills group manager, Jane Jelski said: "The Employment and Skills Group has previously been spread across four sites so the team are looking forward to working together in Nivison House.

"We would like to reassure people that all telephone numbers relating to Work Permits, Careers Service and Training Services will remain the same following the move and that we have staggered the move to minimise any potential disruption to the public."

Political Member with responsibility for Employment and Skills, Clare Christian MLC, said: "I am delighted to see the operations of the Group consolidated in this way. By utilising a single site we have effectively established a ‘one-stop-shop’ supplying the full range of services offered by the Group.

"This move  represents a big step towards greater efficiency, while at the same time ensuring that the high levels of customer service provided by the Group are maintained."

The moves are effective from the following dates:

• Work Permits - Wednesday, September 1
• Careers Service - Friday, September 3
• Training Services - Tuesday, September 7
