GDP continues to rise

by isleofman.com 5th October 2010

The Manx Treasury has released the latest figures for the Island's Gross Domestic Product.

The GDP figure totals the value of all goods and services produced in the Isle of Man over the course of a year, with the latest data covering the financial year 2008 to 2009.

In total, the Island produced ?3.1 billion worth of goods and services, during what was the 26th year of GDP growth.

However, there were winners and losers.

Computing and technology shooting up by 66 per cent over the year, which the government says is largely due to the Island's burgeoning egaming industry.

In contrast, there were sharp falls in the money generated by tourist accommodation, catering and entertainment, compared with the previous year's tallies.
