THERE will be a strong Manx presence in Copenhagen today for the start of the European iGaming Congress and Expo (EIG).
The Isle of Man Government and around 15 other companies from the Isle of Man will be exhibiting at the largest dedicated iGaming conference which runs until October, 21.
Island based corporate service provider Equiom is one company in attendance.
Sheila Dean, managing director, said: "With a superb track record in license applications and a wealth of industry experience in our team Equiom will have an important presence at EIG.
"We want to promote the fact the Isle of Man is a great place to set up an e-Gaming business because of the support and extensive technical expertise of companies like Equiom."
Caroline Ashley, assistant marketing manger at Equiom, said: "This is our third year in Copenhagen as part of the Government constituency. We co-exhibit with them on a pavilion stand which is Isle of Man branded. Within that branding there will be a corporate service provider booth, a legal booth and telecoms providers and everyone on the podium will be rotated."
Now in its ninth year EIG will feature over 1,500 speakers and exhibitors from the industry.
Caroline continued: "As with all shows people come and gather information and go away and make a decision. Sometimes we do see that people come and visit and then return on the last day – the decision making day – and it's important that we have somebody there to ensure that we get people at every stage.
"The key to the show is that if we get an enquiry we can make introductions there and then. The regulators are there, the government are there, the gambling supervision commission are there - everyone's there and ready to go."
As well as manning the pavilion two representatives from Equiom will be meeting with prospective clients.
Tara Sheridan, marketing officer, explained: "The networking is invaluable for so many people to make those contacts – once you've made that personal face to face contact there might be a relationship that develops. It's about getting your face and your name out there and raising your profile."
Caroline continued: "There's always great enthusiasm about the shows. You meet such a diverse audience and your pitch has to match what they are looking for."
The Isle of Man is seen as an ideal location for operating an e-Gaming business due to good economic incentives and a good telecommunications network.
Tara concluded: "I think people have an interest in these up and coming industries because it's more opportunities for the Isle of Man which can only be a good thing."
