by isleofman.com 20th October 2010

ROYAL London 360's head of investments has been appointed chair of the Association of International Life Offices (AILO) investment committee.

Mark Kennett is an experienced investment professional, having begun his financial services career with Barclays Trust Company (Isle of Man) before taking up a position as senior valuations officer at Global Asset Management.

From there he joined Scottish Life International more than 14 years ago as investment analyst manager, beginning the company's investment department.

When SLI merged with Scottish Provident International and Royal London 360° was created, Mark was appointed head of investments and now leads a team of 20 dealers and investment specialists.

Mark has sat on the AILO investment committee board for five years - in addition, he has been a member of the Manx Insurance Association's (MIA) investment committee for nine years.

In his new role he will be responsible for providing guidance to other AILO member companies, designing and implementing best practice to manage issues facing the industry and providing leadership to fellow committee members.

Royal London 360° is heavily involved in the organisation and progression of developments affecting the offshore life industry and many of Mark's colleagues hold senior positions.

Head of marketing Natalie Dutton has chaired AILO's marketing committee since March 2009, technical marketing manager Neil Chadwick is director of the Isle of Man branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and an active member of AILO’s tax committee and finance and commercial director Mike Crellin is Treasurer of the MIA.

Mark said: "The offshore life industry continues to face many challenges as a result of the tough economic conditions being experienced globally and this is something that we can, and must, learn from for the future.

"There are many legislation changes on the horizon which will have serious implications for the industry including a number of European Directives and the 2012 Retail Distribution Review (RDR).

"I am looking forward to steering the AILO investment committee through these and helping to create an industry best practice moving forward."
