Big freight gains for Mezeron

It's been confirmed that supermarkets Shoprite and Tesco are now using the container service run by Mezeron to bring their goods from the United Kingdom to the Isle of Man.

Those clients were represented in an audience of MHKs, MLCs and key players from the shipping industry at a reception held by Mezeron's owners, Dohle, at the firm's headquarters in Douglas, yesterday (Thursday) evening.

Mezeron launched a daily container freight service between Douglas and Liverpool on Monday.

It's now clear significant freight business has switched to Mezeron from the Steam Packet Company.

John Moss put it to Dohle boss Jorg Vanselow that they had attracted some key customers (first part of audio file):

Graylaw Freight Group is handling a large chunk of Mezeron's cargo.

The firm's chief executive Harry Hill says they trialled a move from trailer-based to container freight, and it worked (second part of audio file):
