Watchdog wonders if services will be affected

Further comment is possible from the Steam Packet today (Tuesday), on how it plans to deal with the loss of Tesco and Shoprite as freight customers.

The two firms have quite literally jumped ship to Mezeron, which has begun a daily freight service to Liverpool.

Steam Packet bosses have remained tight-lipped since staff were briefed yesterday (Monday) afternoon and evening, although Manx Radio understands further talks could take place today and even tomorrow.

Chairman of Manx passenger watchdog TravelWatch Brendan O'Friel says it remains to be seen what the impact on passenger fares or services might be:
