Post Office starts graduate internship scheme

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2010

TWO graduates who have joined the Isle of Man Post Office will take an MBA at the same time in a new graduate internship scheme.

Erin Hudson and Ciara Kaneen will be employed with the Post Office for the next two years and will study for an MBA in Business Management.

The graduates will spend time working in every area of the business and will be expected to make recommendations for improvement in terms of products and services, internal procedures, the business's statutory obligations and its relationship with the Isle of Man Government.

Both graduates have achieved university degrees in the last two years. Erin studied Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University and graduated in 2009. Since then she has been working in the Post Office's Human Resources Department as an administrator.

Erin said: "I am delighted to have been picked for the graduate internship as it will enable me to develop the experience and skills needed when working for a large organisation such as the Isle of Man Post Office."

Ciara graduated from Brunel University with a degree in Sports Science. She has been working with the Post Office since 2008 in Integrated Mailing Solutions.

Ciara said: "This is a great opportunity to be able to study for an MBA whilst gaining full-time work experience at Isle of Man Post Office and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead."

Mike Kelly, Chief Executive, of Isle of Man Post Office said: "We are delighted to have Erin and Ciara join us as they work towards their MBA. Through a variety of key learning outcomes the graduates will gain a thorough understanding of Isle of Man Post Office and appreciate the challenges which the business is facing as traditional postal revenue streams decline.

"I am sure they will both enjoy the two years which lie ahead of them and we look forward to working with them and hearing their ideas and opinions about the business in order to make steps forward to sustain its future as we embrace the digital age.

"We are very committed to having Ciara and Erin and aim to give them the best possible experience of business management."

The Graduate Internship programme is an initiative developed by the Department of Economic Development and the Isle of Man Business School (IBS).
