OVER 60 new contacts have been made with companies interested in relocating or investing in the e-gaming sector in the Island.
The Department of Economic Development and thirteen Island companies made the contacts after showcasing the gaming sector at the European iGaming Expo (EiG) last month.
EiG is a leading industry event for decision makers in the online gaming industry and the exhibition offered an opportunity for government and business representatives to have discussions with companies interested in investing in the Island.
Garth Kimber, head of e-Gaming development, said: "The Isle of Man's presence at EiG is key to our annual marketing effort and in positioning the Island as a premier jurisdiction.
"Events such as these provide us with the opportunity to articulate the benefits of relocating to the Isle of Man face to face and prove to be an invaluable tool in winning new business.
"The mood is sombre in Europe due to the fast changing regulatory landscape and this was reflected at the conference.
"Despite this we were able to have serious conversations with a significant number of businesses who are interested in the Island and what we have to offer."
Visitors to the show were able to discuss everything from legal and financial issues, payments, data hosting, software, consultancy and corporate services.
They were also able to talk to government delegates representing the Development Agency and the Gambling Supervision Commission.
Alex Downie MLC, political member for e-Gaming, said: "The growth of the sector, particularly over the last 12 months, is testament to the Island's ongoing commitment to supporting a quality e-Gaming sector which adheres to the highest regulations.
"The Isle of Man's presence at EiG is important not only with regard to demonstrating our diverse economy but also the Island's international standing as a flexible and responsible jurisdiction."
The event, which is in its ninth year, was held between October 19 and 21 in Copenhagen.
