Residents urged to lock up oil tanks

by isleofman.com 10th November 2010

POLICE are urging residents with outdoor fuel stores to tighten up their security after two reports of theft in the north of the Island.

A large quantity of both red and normal diesel has been stolen from oil tanks at Glascoe Beg Farm in Bride over the last six weeks.

The fuel cap on a wagon parked at Island Aggregates at the Point of Ayre was also forced and the tank subsequently emptied of diesel.

This incident happened overnight between Monday, November 8, and Tuesday, November 9.

Police said thefts like these were "a timely reminder" to residents of the need to put measures into place to reduce opportunistic theft of fuel.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Colin Kelly at Ramsey Police Station on 01624 812234.
