Manx Telecom, in association with Jersey Telecom, has won a contract to supply Lloyds TSB with mobile phone and BlackBerry services in the Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey.
The contract is one of the largest of its kind and is the culmination of months of work by Manx Telecom and Jersey Telecom. It will involve both companies combining their skills and expertise to provide a tri-Island service.
The bid process started in December 2009 and initially three telecoms companies were in the running for the contract however one was eliminated after the initial presentation stage.
Manx Telecom and Jersey Telecom had to go through a six month process which included submitting an initial proposal document, a presentation in Jersey to the local Lloyds TSB management team, an e-auction, visits by Lloyds TSB to the Manx Telecom Network Operations Centre and to several corporate customers and a process of legal negotiations.
Chris Hall, Manx Telecom managing director, said: "This is a significant win for both Manx Telecom and Jersey Telecom. Lloyds TSB ran an extremely thorough and rigorous selection process and I am absolutely delighted that we were able to meet their requirements for this important contract.
"The fact that we have done so is a tribute to the sheer professionalism and commitment of everyone involved in winning this significant flagship contract.
"Also, it's hugely pleasing that this was a joint bid between us and Jersey Telecom, which shows that, working together, we can offer companies based on all three Islands a superb and seamless service."
Commenting for Jersey Telecom chief executive officer Graeme Millar said: "We are delighted to have been appointed by Lloyds TSB for what is by any stretch of the imagination a very important and high profile account.
"Everyone involved in the bid process is to be congratulated on putting in a superb performance. It’s also especially pleasing to be working with Manx Telecom combining our joint skills and resources in a complementary way to offer Lloyds TSB a superb service."
The contract with Lloyds TSB is for a period of three years.
