THE Institute of Directors Isle of Man branch will be holding two workshops next month.
Both take place on Thursday, February 24, at the International Business School.
The first runs from 8.30am to noon and is about strategy.
The Institute of Directors said: "Many organisations move directly from a vision to tactics leaving the strategy cupboard bare.
"This workshop explores in depth what strategy is and how to create one.
"The strategy workshop consists of practical, current and business school techniques for establishing a vision, strategy and tactical plan for private and public sector organisations.
"It will include references to current business scenarios from a UK and global perspective and relate these to delegates' business challenges."
The second workshop is about strategic marketing and takes place from 1pm to 4.30pm.
The IoD said: "The strategic marketing workshop takes one key element of a company's strategy into the practical world of marketing and business development (sales).
"The focus is on the top line and tackles market segmentation, competitive benchmarking, other global external factors and the identification of an organisation's distinctive competitive advantages.
"From this point, marketing strategy is developed leading to a commoditisation versus differentiated branded approach and the resulting tactical marketing and sales activities and budgets necessary to deliver the strategy."
Both workshops will be highly interactive and participative as the presenter, Michael West, will draw on the collective experiences of participants as well as his own.
Mr West has spent 35 years in senior management positions and consultancy and has global experience in strategy, marketing, brand development, sales and finance.
He worked for 10 years for Xerox in the USA and Australia where he was head of marketing and was managing director of part of the James Hardie Group in Australia servicing Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
Mr West has been the senior partner at BeStrategic, a Cambridge based marketing consultancy, for 20 years.
