PRESIDENT of the Isle of Man branch of the Chartered Management Institute Jon McGowan will give a talk on management and leadership at the organisation's first event of the year.
It takes place at the Claremont Hotel, Loch Promenade, Douglas, on Thursday, January 20.
He will also present certificates to the finalists of the 2010 Manx Executive Challenge - a major bi-annual event for young business leaders organised by the Chartered Management Institute - at the event.
Jon is a well known local businessman and managing director the MAC group of companies that include MAC Financial Ltd, MAC Financial Pensions Trustees Ltd and the newly formed MAC Commercial Ltd, a general insurance broker specialising in commercial and professional risks.
He has extensive knowledge, experience and qualifications in his chosen field of financial services and is a member of the Personal Finance Society, the Insurance Institute and the Institute of Directors.
Jon has worked in financial services for more than 20 years and he currently holds non-executive director positions at Manx Telecoms and Hamblin Ltd.
In January 2004 Jon led a MBO at Aon (Isle of Man) and subsequently acquired Marsh Financial Services and the investment business division of Anglo Irish Bank.
He has lectured to the Chartered Institute of Accountants, the Association of Corporate Service Providers, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, the Chartered Management Institute, several of the 'global' accountants and many of the Island's law firms.
He sits on the Chamber of Commerce Finance Committee and the Employment and Training Committee.
He was chairman of the Judging Panel of the Chartered Management Institute's Manx Executive Challenge 2010.
The evening will provide excellent opportunity for members to network and meet some of those who took part in the last Executive Challenge.
