'Good showing' by national broadcaster

by isleofman.com 17th January 2011

Manx Radio has been named runner up in the prestigious Sony Radio Awards for Nations and Regions.

It's seen as another good showing by the national radio station, which won the accolade in 2009.

This year's first place went to Knowsley Community College, which goes forward to the next round of the awards, which are recognised as the 'Oscars' of the radio industry.

Stations were required to enter a maximum of six examples of their output, and an unedited 30 minute excerpt of programming, from a day announced after transmission with no advance warning.

Manx Radio's controller of programming and content Marc Tyley said while he was disappointed at not winning again, he was proud of the whole team for securing second place.
