by isleofman.com 22nd January 2011

30 MANAGERS of commercial properties in the Isle of Man have attended a seminar on the responsibilities of a landlord.

Island facilities contractor SCS hosted the Landlord's Responsibilities Seminar, the first in a series, which was held at the company's headquarters in Baldrine.

Fire safety officers John Murtagh and Carl Kinvig discussed fire safety in the work place and the requirements of Manx legislation as well as some reforms introduced in the UK.

Dr Peter Slinger of SafetyNet Limited spoke about the legal requirements for identifying and managing water hygiene risks in commercial buildings including Legionella.

He also gave an update on the regulations covering construction design management in the Island and the responsibilities relating to the appointment of contractors and planning supervisors.

Steve Carter, director of SCS, said: "We have received very positive feedback following this event so we will be hosting further seminars during 2011 covering different topics relating to the facility services sector."
