by isleofman.com 1st February 2011

GORDON Wilson has been appointed as the new director at PwC's advisory practice.

Gordon, a qualified accountant and insolvency practitioner, joins PwC from Caledonian Fund Services (Europe) Limited where he had been managing director for five years.

He said: "I am delighted to be joining PwC. I have had a number of dealings with them during my career and at all times I have been impressed with their approach and professionalism as well as the quality of service that they provide. I am very much looking forward to working with them as we develop out the Isle of Man advisory practice.

"Advisory covers a wide range of professional services outside of the traditional audit and tax specialties. Services such as business recovery, forensic investigation, valuations, corporate finance, risk and regulatory consulting all fall within the PwC advisory area and we will be utilising the expertise of the existing staff in the Isle of Man as well as drawing on the experience of staff from the PwC network as we develop the business."

Gordon said his first impressions of his first weeks with PwC have been positive. He explained: "I have been warmly welcomed by the partners and staff of the firm and am looking forward to the challenges ahead.

"In particular I have been very impressed by the PwC global knowledge system - the method by which PwC allows its knowledge base to be shared among its staff and clients worldwide. This is a unique resource and I look forward to unlocking the information in it for the benefit of our clients in the Isle of Man."

Ian Clague, senior partner at PwC, said: "Two years ago we started the process of diversification of the audit practice when we recruited George Sharpe and Kevin Cowley to head up our now thriving tax department.

"I see Gordon's appointment as the next stage in the development of a fully integrated service proposition for our clients as they face up to the increasingly challenging fiscal environment.

"Our aim is to ensure that more of the work that we do is undertaken by Isle of Man based people whilst at the same time ensuring that the highest levels of value, quality and professionalism are delivered.

"I believe that in Gordon we have found the right person to take our advisory business forward."
