Argentina looks set to be dropped from the Isle of Man's money laundering whitelist of countries.
In Tynwald later this month, Minister for Home Affairs Adrian Earnshaw will ask the court to approve changes to the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) Codes.
The proposed changes would see Argentina removed from the whitelist as concerns grow around the world about the South American country's efforts to tackle dirty money.
Last year, a cable from the United States embassy in Buenos Aires aired serious concerns and was released as part of the WikiLeaks documents.
It says: 'The near complete absence of enforcement, coupled with a culture of impunity and corruption make Argentina ripe for exploitation by narco-traffickers and terrorist cells.
'Most maintain that narcotics-trafficking is becoming a real problem and that, increasingly, the dirty money sloshing through the financial system originates in the drug trade.'
The changes are due to be moved during the February sitting of Tynwald, which begins a week next Tuesday.
