Linux component database available

by isleofman.com 11th February 2011

Manx-based software firm Canonical has released a complete database of certified components for its Ubuntu operating system.

The company says the database of 1,300 components from 161 manufacturers is the world's largest list of Linux-compatible computer parts.

It says the database will reduce the time it takes for manufacturers to bring a new product to market and be sure it works.

Platform services manager at Canonical Victor Palau says the database allows the company and its manufacturing partners to focus on user experience.

You can browse the database at ubuntu.com/certification/catalog
