PokerStars returns funds to US players

by isleofman.com 27th April 2011

Isle of Man-based online gaming firm PokerStars has begun returning money to its American players, following the recent indictment of its founder and one of the directors.

The move comes twelve days after pokerstars.com was seized by the FBI, and Isai Scheinberg and Paul Tate were charged with money laundering and bank fraud offences.

Last week PokerStars was handed back its dot-com domain name by the US Department of Justice so the returns could be made.

An email sent to its American players says: 'In light of recent developments, PokerStars is no longer offering real money play to residents of the United States of America and its territories.

'The PokerStars Cashier is now available for you to cash out the funds in your real money account balance.'
