by isleofman.com 17th February 2012

THE ultimate swimming pool challenge will be set up at the National Sports Centre in Douglas.

The Olympian – a 20 metre long inflatable obstacle course will be launched next week as part of the build up to the 2012 Olympics.

It will be suitable for children aged eight and over who can swim for at least 25 metres unaided.

Juan Turner MLC, the political member with responsibility for sport, said: "The Olympian is going to be great fun and very popular for children visiting the NSC especially in the build up to the Olympics.

"Our sport venues are just as much about having fun as well as keeping fit so this is an ideal half term activity for parents looking for something exciting for their children to do."

Carl Glover, the National Sports Centre Manager, said: "A one of a kind attraction in the Island the Olympian is already looking like being even more popular than the NSC's other inflatable.

"As well as being great fun the Olympian is extremely safe and all children enjoying it will be supervised by the NSC's highly experienced lifeguards."

The first session will take place on Tuesday, February 21, at 2pm. Sessions will then take place at 2pm and 4pm on February 23, 25 and 26. For more information contact the NSC reception on 01624 688588.
