Ramsey stun leaders

Ramsey secured one of the results of the season in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two on Saturday.

They defeated league leaders Oswestry 25-16 to cause a major shock and seal a massive boost in their battle to avoid relegation.

They also picked up a bonus point with four tries.

Promotion chasing Douglas’ didn’t take advantage as they went down 24-13 at Southport, while Vagabonds missed a late penalty as they lost 23-20 at Sefton.

There was a demolition in RFU women’s North Two as Eccles put 102 past Vagabonds without reply at Ballfletcher.

In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy, newly crowned champions Southern Nomads thrashed an understrength Ramsey B 88-0.

Ben White (three), Gareth Watts (two), Rob Keelan (two), Duncan Miller (two), Steven McHugh, Tom Kneale, Harry Brereton, Andy Joughin and Glen Buckley all scored tries in the romp with the trusty boot of Miller responsible for nine conversions.

Vagabonds B won 66-3 at Castletown in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl.

Town's sole points came from a Sam Peel drop-goal.
