Sefton Hotel Celebrates 120 Year as Public Hotel

by isleofman.com 13th March 2012

The Sefton is celebrating its 120th year as a public hotel with a fantastic offer.

Guests can enjoy a three-course dinner in the Gallery Restaurant and stay the night at The Sefton for just £120 per couple, with breakfast included, of course.

Sefton Group Hotels Manager Paul Forrest said: ‘We’re extremely proud of The Sefton, which over the years has been one of the Island’s most prestigious and acclaimed hotels. The special offer to mark its landmark birthday is our way of saying a little thank you to customers for their continued support.’

While the hotel’s application for a private licence was initially approved in July 1891, it wasn’t until the following March when its public hotel licence was granted.

Mr Forrest explained: ‘The hotel was built on a site previously occupied by part of the Villa Marina Gardens and was designed by a local architect, W J Rennison.  The centre section was completed first, with the wings being added around three years later. Within just 12 months, The Sefton was one of the Island’s largest hotels, with 150 bedrooms and a dining room that could seat 200.

‘The hotel has continued to expand considerably over the years, with the most notable recent developments being the addition of the indoor Atrium Water Garden in 1999 and the nine 5-star Sefton Suites, which opened in 2009.’

The £120 special anniversary offer for dinner, bed and breakfast at The Sefton (based on two people sharing) is available until 31st May 2012.

To take advantage of the offer, please contact The Sefton on 645500 and quote ‘Anniversary Special’.
