Following the resounding success of their most recent Hearing Care event on the Island, Manx Hidden Hearing in Village Walk, Onchan is holding an Open Day. Due to take place on Wednesday 7th November, the free, all-day event will be hosted by professionally qualified audiologist, Paul Richards, HAD, FRSPH, MSHAA and will feature the exhibition of a wide range of the latest hearing aids and assistive technologies to the visiting public.
Modern hearing aids are now packed full of advanced features that can help to improve your hearing even in the most commonly challenging situation such as understanding speech in noisy environments and suddenly impulsive sounds. They are also now available in a range of different styles designed to accommodate for changing lifestyles, including those that are totally invisible when worn and the impressive Spectacle Hearing Aids, a hearing aid that is packed neatly into a pair of prescription spectacles.
With over 22 years of experience within the industry, Paul Richards explains: “People with hearing loss often struggle to hear and identify sounds, meaning they use a considerable amount of energy to follow even the most casual of conversations. It takes them more time and more energy to reflect on the meaning of sounds, to remember the flow of a conversation and to respond before the conversation has moved on.”
Mr Richards continues: “I very much enjoy helping to improve the lives of people on the Island who have suffered the frustration and loss of confidence that comes when losing our primary sense of communication. The earlier you compensate for a hearing loss, the easier life will be. You’ll have more energy to take an active part in conversations and in social gatherings.”
Mr Richards also expressed his desire to remind visitors that when demonstrating hearing aids it is important, where possible, to bring someone along with you, as they will be a familiar voice that you can benchmark your hearing improvement against and it will enable you to experience a genuine listening difference.
The Hidden Hearing Open Day is to take place on Wednesday 7th November, 2012 at the Manx Hidden Hearing Clinic, 15b Village Walk, Onchan, Isle of Man, IM3 4EB. For more information, please call Manx Hidden Hearing on 01624 617 683.
