Abacus staff help smash the target for the Eva Rose’s Garden Project

by isleofman.com 29th October 2012

A donation by local fiduciary and fund services specialist Abacus has helped smash the ?20,000 target for Julie Crossley, her family and all the supporters and fundraisers behind the touching project ‘Eva Rose’s Garden’.

Eva Rose’s Garden, on behalf of Hospice Isle of Man is a local initiative which was set up after discussion between Hospice Isle of Man and the parents of baby Eva Rose Crossley. Eva passed away from a rare genetic disorder known as Trisomy 18 or Edwards Syndrome shortly after her birth in 2011, aged 9 weeks. The aim of the fundraising is to build a sensory garden within the grounds of Hospice Isle of Man which will add to the existing outdoor space and is to be enjoyed by both patients and their family and friends of Rebecca House and Hospice Isle of Man.

The total amount raised by Abacus was an amazing ?1,184.46 and was achieved through various fundraising activities including bake sales, raffles, staff salary donations and collection pots.

Julie Crossley said, ‘I would like to personally thank everyone at Abacus for taking part in the fundraising events which saw them raise the staggering amount of ?1,184.46 for Eva Rose’s Garden. Our initial target to create the garden was ?20,000 and the generous amount donated by Abacus has helped us achieve our target and much more.

The garden will be a sensory garden with a children’s play area that will be used by the patients and their families and friends and shall be named after my daughter Eva Rose’.

Abacus’ funds Managing Director Paul Kneen said, ‘I am extremely pleased to be presenting this cheque on behalf of Abacus to Mrs Crossley and the Eva Rose’s Garden Project. It’s wonderful to know that our donation has helped to reach the target of ?20,000. Rebecca House and Hospice Isle of Man are here for our community and it’s great that we can do our part to help with this community project’.

More information on the project can be found at www.evarosesgarden.webs.com or follow their progress on special Facebook page entitled ‘Eva Roses Garden’.
