Chief Minister to officially open Bonwick Day Nursery

by isleofman.com 26th October 2012

Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK will officially open Bonwick Day Nursery in Ramsey on Saturday November 10. The nursery, run by The Children’s Centre, is based at Bonwick House in Lezayre Road and accommodates up to nine babies from birth to two years, and up to 21 two to five-year-olds. It opened on September 10 this year and also offers an After School Club and a Holiday Club. Bonwick Day Nursery has new play equipment in the garden, and areas have been created to enable all age groups from babies to 12 years to have their own play space. There’s also an adventure playground - called Frontier Land - a sand pit for younger children, a gazebo, an orchard, and a wet play area.

The Chief Minister will arrive at 10.15am on November 10, and there are a range of activities for children from 9.30am to 11am to celebrate the occasion including face-painting and story-telling. Light refreshments will be available and parents and children will have the chance to look around the newly refurbished nursery and meet staff. Rachel Staley, Head of Early Years at The Children’s Centre, said:

“We are thrilled that the Chief Minister will be officially opening our Bonwick Day Nursery, After School Club and Holiday Club. Mr Bell has a long-standing connection with the Ramsey community, and has supported the regeneration of the town over many years, and so there is nobody better to officially open the nursery. Local people have welcomed the nursery, and spaces are filling up nicely. Parents visiting the setting have commented on the warm, family-friendly atmosphere that the staff and facilities create. They value the baby care we offer, enabling young children to stay in Ramsey rather than travelling to Douglas for childcare, and encouraging them to make friends in the area where they live.”

The After School Club and the Holiday Club are for children aged four to 12 years and staff organise school walking pick ups from 3.15pm to all local schools. In the school holidays the Holiday Club will be open from 8am to 6pm. For more information about Bonwick Day Nursery contact Rachel on 676076/431403 or rachelstaley@thechildrenscentre.org.im.
