Cal Cooper continues his success

by isleofman.com 24th October 2012

Cal Cooper completed a remarkable season by adding two more titles to his British 450GP Aprilia crown at Mallory Park at the weekend.

The 16 year old lanky Lezayre lad stormed to two wins and two runner-up berths to take the ThundersportGB 650 Open series on his 450, beating off the superfast 650 twins with some determined  riding, often of it in damp and tricky conditions.

Not originally intending to ride the championship, Cal missed several early races but thereafter began a steady rise through the ranks, ultimately winning six times.

Along the way he also notched the Supertwins Cup for 450s by a handsome margin, although the racing was as fierce as ever.

He also rounded off the 450 championship by taking two more wins and two second places, making it 15 wins in total.

Having taken pole in both classes on Friday, Cal also set five fastest laps.

He expressed his thanks to John Davies of JDF Racing, mechanic Dave Hewitt, pit crew Mary and Keith, Duke Video, DC Shoes (Europe), Manx Sport Aid, Maxton (suspension) and mum and dad, Glenn and Emma.
