The Sefton has teamed up with Manx National Heritage and Isle of Man Event Services to offer special packages aimed at attracting lovers of heritage and culture to the Island.
The packages are in response to research undertaken by MNH, which revealed that history and heritage aren’t just of interest to older generations of tourists.
Survey findings suggested that MNH should increase its work with its tourism partners around the Island to create packages to appeal to a wider audience.
Anna McChesney, Deputy Marketing Manager at the Sefton Group, said: ‘The research undertaken by MNH was interesting and very revealing. The findings showed that heritage and culture were important considerations for a lot of participants – both young and old – when choosing a location for a short break or holiday.
‘We were delighted to partner up with MNH to devise some fantastic packages to promote the culture and history of the Island to our visitors.’
Gaynor Haxby, Head of Public Services at MNH, said: ‘The research was extensive and included face-to-face surveys with around 500 visitors at MNH visitor attractions, 500 visitors leaving the Island from both the Sea Terminal and Isle of Man Airport and on street surveys both on the Island and in key cities in the UK.
‘The findings confirmed that culture and heritage are very strong considerations for prospective visitors in selecting a destination but this needed to be set in context of the whole tourism offer to make it sufficiently compelling. We are delighted, therefore, to be working with The Sefton Group and Isle of Man Event Services to provide just such an offer to attract new visitors to the Isle of Man.’
There are two packages on offer.
The first is a Weekend Explorer Break. These are for three nights’ accommodation at The Sefton (check-in Friday, check-out on Monday) and cost ?210 per person. The package includes bed and breakfast in a sea view or Atrium room, a return foot passenger ticket (from Liverpool or Heysham) and a three-day Island Transport Pass.
The second is the Island Heritage & Explorer Break. This has the same features at the Weekend Explorer Break, but also includes a three-day Heritage site pass, and is priced at ?245 per person. This break can also be extended into a five-night stay for ?365 per person.
There is also the option to add a three-course evening meal on to either of the packages; making the deals superb value for money.
Sally Helwich from Isle of Man Event Services added: ‘The isle of Man is a great place to explore and has so much to offer visitors. Working with the Sefton Group and MNH, Isle of Man Event Services is delighted to offer visitors these combined packages that are easy to book and great value for money.’
